Bollards are familiar to road users; they deter vehicles from driving onto pedestrian zones, which is why they are so solid and heavy, usually cemented and bolted into the ground in case a truck or car runs into them. Strong enough to stop the advance, they create pathways in the city and designate which zones cars can and cannot go. They come in different shapes and colours, different styles.
