2023–24 NGV Triennial Editoral

NGV Triennial, National Gallery of Victoria | NGV International 3 Dec – 7 Apr 2024
This week a group of writers have each picked a single work of their choice to review from the NGV Triennial—and to write about it with no mention of its position within the Triennial.
The project is to “de-curate” the work and refute the existence of the exhibition as having any effect upon artworks. This of course sounds cavalier, but really these events implicitly block criticality—too big, too much, too many.
We are not advocating a return to simpler times of an artist making a singular art work but rather casting a spotlight on whether a single work can stand by itself, to be considered directly in terms of its effects and results.
