It was by chance that I recently came across Jacqueline Harpman’s novel I Who Have Never Known Men (Moi qui n’ai pas connu les hommes). When it was first published in 1995, it enjoyed moderate success, but there was a recent resurgence that found a larger, younger audience worldwide (there are now twenty-seven translations of the novel), after it became a BookTok phenomenon.
