Dossier Notes on H. Earles
EARLES, Hana (b. 1994).
Born, Melbourne;
lives, Berlin/Frankfurt.
Occupation: Artist.
By Douglas Maxted
Issue 4, Summer 2025
The following material draws from observations and digital traces. I describe myself as a parasitic art-historian-in-training, documenting subjectivist tales of lives, in the vein of Isabelle Graw, Cameron Hurst, and Audrey Schmidt. So, to paraphrase David Homewood, perhaps my opinion counts, but am I always a reliable source?
You can spot me in MeowTV Episode 4 (April 3, 2019), wearing a blue hat and green shirt, and asked what I thought about the exhibition: “I had a good time with it, but is there a ref?” In other videos, I appear with round glasses and a polo shirt. H. Earles offered me a show at her gallery Meow2 for March/April 2023. I claim I’ve retired from art-making.
