Grab a copy and celebrate the launch of Issue 3 of Memo magazine.

Issue 3's central theme appears to be everything kitsch—with Catherine Liu calling political message art the “highest form of kitsch,” Slavoj Žižek delving into the kitsch depths of Trumpian political aesthetics, while others dissect sleek corporate aesthetics and social media’s performative dimensions. Artist Maria Kozic, this issue’s artist focus with articles by Gemma Topliss, Victoria Perin and Philip Brophy, takes the theme further, twisting pop aesthetics into provocative confrontations that make kitsch visceral, even violent.

There's also a special section on Art & Crime bringing together leading critics and artists confronting how stolen wages, incarceration, and colonial violence shape Australian art.

This issue also features pieces on D Harding, Mark Rothko, Madonna Staunton, Sidney Nolan and many more. With contributions from Biddy Mahy, Penelope Jackson, Tristen Harwood, Isobel D'Cruz Barnes, Kate Meakin, Dana Kopel and others.
